Environment

Have you ever had a routine and gone on vacation somewhere else and suddenly you weren’t able to perform your routine, even though you wanted to? One of the reasons for not being able to follow through on an otherwise solid routine is your environment. To create or keep a solid routine, we first need to understand that a routine consists of a set of behaviors. On top of that, we need to understand when human behavior occurs.

Extremes

Have you ever experienced someone being stubborn and not listening to what you have to say? Most likely they’re jammed to one side of thinking and don’t want to accept the truth. In other words, they’re close-minded. To be able to find the truth we need to be open-minded. If we become open-minded we won’t be as affected by other people being close-minded. We get disconnected from each other when both sides of people are close-minded.

Assumptions

Just because you come up with an idea or read about something (even if it’s from an “expert”), you don’t know if it’s accurate or true. What you have is an assumption that something works a certain way. To validate the idea, you need to test it to see for yourself if it’s the case. Once you’ve seen for yourself and can predictably achieve the result the idea portrays, then you have validated your learning and it can be repeated for consistent and predictable results.

Chunks

Have you ever attempted to do something, you knew what you wanted to do, like going to the gym, getting fit, generating leads, or eating healthy? But then you couldn’t get yourself going very far, you might take a few steps, but you more or less stayed stuck where you started. Those wants are essentially means to an end, where the ultimate thing you probably want is a change in state to feel empowered, energized, or any other positive emotion and feeling.

Odds

We are not defined by ‘odds’. We are not a coin with 50⁄50 odds of achieving an outcome. As thinking and improving beings we can defy the ‘odds’.

Pattern

Learning, evolution, and adaptation. A few of the reasons why humans have such an amazing power to create. However, sometimes we get stuck or plateau, we don’t know what to do or can’t do it because of a lack of skill. Then some people seem so far ahead of us and seem to know exactly what to do in a situation. And they seem to be able to do so in an amazing and effortless flow.

Repetition

Repetition is the mother of skill. If you want to get skilled at something you need to stay consistent with practice and know what level you want to achieve. With your goal in mind, you can focus on deliberately achieving it quicker than you can imagine. To get even better quicker begin with practicing in reduced complexities to internalize the fundamentals. With the fundamentals internalized you’ll be able to connect them and see patterns others can’t and you can combine them into a natural flow freeing your conscious mind to capture smaller details available to only the skilled.

Questions

Ever felt stuck, in doubt of yourself, or just not knowing what to do? It can be a grueling feeling which perpetuates into a void of negativity. When we feel stuck and doubt ourselves we just want to get out of the situation and get to our desired results. But getting to that destination can feel completely hopeless when in a negative and disempowered state. There can be multiple reasons for feeling a disempowered and negative state.

Knowledge

Knowledge is not power, knowledge is potential power. Knowledge is trumped every day by action. You can learn as much as possible about a topic or skill but without putting it into action someone with inferior knowledge who does take action will beat you every day of the week. Not only will they beat you, but they will also surpass your level of knowledge in that area quickly because they’ll be acquiring practical experience.
